Annual General Meeting

OCA's Annual General Meeting provides our membership with an opportunity to practice their democratic rights, have a voice, participate in learning and professional development opportunities and network with other co-operative organizations within our membership. Learn more about what took place at last year's AGM below!

This year's Virtual AGM will take place on Tuesday, September 21, 2021 from 10:00 - 11:30am EST. 

This will be a wonderful opportunity for our members to learn about what we have been up to and what’s on the horizon. We will also be presenting the Co-operative Spirit Awards at the AGM this year!

This is a FREE event but pre-registration is required. Registration is now open online and closes Monday, September 20 at 4pm. Only Member-Owners are eligible to vote in the election, on motions and on resolutions. If you are a Member-Owner, please complete the Delegate Form and return it to Jennifer at [email protected] by September 20, 2021.

This year's AGM will include an election to the Board of Directors, as we have two vacant seats available:

  • Two (2) Director-at-Large seats (each for a three-year term)
  • One (1) Youth Director seat (one-year term)

More than fifty delegates joined OCA for its first-ever virtual AGM on September 22, 2020! Board Chair Maureen Gillespie opened the meeting by welcoming the membership and introducing the Board and staff. She and Executive Director Erin Morgan than shared a joint Chair/ED Report, which highlighted some of the past year's accomplishments, and future initiatives for OCA. Following the Treasurer's and Auditor's Reports, an election to the OCA Board took place. We welcomed both Shylah Wolfe of the Local Food and Farm Co-operative for the position of Director-at-Large (three-year term), and Maya Linsley, Youth Director (one-year term). We then appointed the Designated Directors, Julie Breuer of Central 1 and Terry Naylor of GROWMARK, Inc. And sadly, we said goodbye to our retiring Directors: Sally Miller (CWCF), Joel Lalonde (Central 1), Janice Johnson (GROWMARK, Inc.) and Megan Shipton (Youth Director). 

We'd like to take this opportunity to thank all those that attended the AGM. We look forward to working with our new Board, and we are very grateful for the contributions of those that have left the Board.
